At first glance, you may be wondering what’s wrong with this patio and why it’s shown as a “before” picture in this case study—it looks so good!
But, if you know what you’re looking for, you’ll clearly see a few problems. The most notable would be the weed growth within the stone patio itself, as well as the water damage to the stucco on the side of the home. So, when this client came to us with water drainage issues, Dutchies knew one of our patios could solve this homeowner’s problem.
The Challenge
As we started the project and began removing the home’s stucco, it was apparent that the water damage from improper drainage was causing rot on the foundation. Luckily, we were able to replace the rotted wood for the customer to stop any further damage.
Our Solution
When we designed this project, we wanted to tie the new patio into the already existing stucco. The most challenging part was probably just making sure the color matched! The customer also wanted a different stone style, so we went with a full-color natural cleft pattern on this stone patio. We also added steppers and a curved radius for aesthetics.
